Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her highly laudable performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her film Piano earned her an Oscar. Her career began as an actress on Broadway and Off Broadway. Since her childhood she's been passionate about acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. Mumps caused her to be blind and deaf in one ear. But she didn't let this hinder her progress as an actress. In her teens, Hunter studied drama before moving in New York City. After a casual encounter, she got stuck in an elevator with playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart and became Hunter's debut. The first time she appeared in a film was when she moved in Los Angeles. She has since appeared in numerous television series, films and movies over the course of a 30 year career. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
